A CULLYBACKEY couple, caught up in the terrifying Tropical Storm 'Harvey' during a visit to their son in Houston, have described the challenge ahead as being of 'Herculean' proportions.
George and Dorothea Young were enjoying their holiday in Texas with son Stephen and his family when "things suddenly changed" and the hurricane struck.
George described how in the space of three days some parts of the city had over 30 inches of rain.
The couple, who are staying in an area which had 8 ft high flooding, have witnessed "absolute devastation".
George is now "at the coal face" trying to lend a helping hand to those who have been left injured and homeless.
He explained that fortunately his son's house escaped the flooding, however, many neighbourhoods were under water.
He said: "We have been very lucky that my son lives on an elevation, so the house has not flooded, but we have had to follow the advice of just hunkering down and preparing for the worst
