A BALLYMENA teenager, who loved to watch her grandfather work on cars as a child, is currently Peugeot's only female apprentice mechanic in Northern Ireland.
Sarah McCluney (19) has worked for the Curtis Peugeot dealership in Ballymena as a light vehicle technician for three years.
In the past the role of a mechanic was often thought of as "men's work" but Sarah is among a growing number of women choosing it as a career.
She explained that her desire to become a mechanic came at a young age when she would spend a lot of time with her grandfather who enjoyed working on cars.
“My mum and dad brought me up to believe that you can follow whatever career you want to and no job is gender specific."
