A ‘Royal’ reunion! thumbnailIan Piggot and Hillary McGall (nee Carson) recently met to exchange pictures and tales of their shared connection following a brief encounter on a train solved ‘The Christening cup mystery!’

AN extraordinary 'chance' meeting on a train led to a Ballymena woman's reunion with a man, who was able to provide her with a treasured picture of her father she had never seen before!
Hilary McGall and Ian Piggott were also able to reflect on an incredible 'Royal' connection, dating backing to the time Ian served with Hilary's father, Mr Henry Carson, on a Merchant Navy ship 70 years ago.
Last month, the Guardian revealed the how a chance meeting between them led to the realisation he had served with her dad on the 'Inishowen' back in 1947.
With our help, the two were reunited and Ian was able to give Hilary, who lives near Carnaghts primary school, a much cherished new picture of her dad.
Ian wrote to the Guardian after his chance train encounter, explaining that he had been a 3rd Mate on the Inishowen in 1947 when the then Governor of Northern Ireland, Earl Granville and his wife Countess Rose Granville, sister to the late Queen Mother, were passengers.
