Cushendall on the Up: The Town on the way Down thumbnailThe Cushendall Senior Hurlers who blew Ballycastle away as they crept closer to the top of the Division 1 Hurling League. Pics by Neal O’Boyle.

ANOTHER rip roaring performance from the Ruairi Ogs saw them move even closer to the top of the Division 1 hurling league as they did a demolition job on a poor Ballycastle side.
Certainly they were expecting a tougher battle than in their previous league encounter with a much stronger side on view.
Unfortunately for the spectators this was a game that was over almost as soon as it began as Cushendall headed towards their massive 9-22, with a weak reply of 1-9 coming from a young and inexperienced McQuillans outfit.
Still there was a sprinkling of experience in the shape of Ryan Mc Garry, Mattie Donnelly, Kevin Barry Mc Shane and Ciaran Clarke.
In the end it became the story of two left corner forwards, Clarke for the Town and Neal McManus, both of whom racking up the bulk of their sides scores. Clarke managed all but two of the 'Castle total while McManus had a field day with 4-7.
It was the Town who were first off the mark, Clarke knocking over the first of his six frees but following Donal McNaughton's goal in the fifth minute any semblence of a challenge from McQuillans petered out.
