MID and East Antrim Council is conducting an internal probe into the procurement of a major professional services contract, following complaints from a "whistleblower."
Details of the probe are revealed in last month's minutes of the council's Audit and Scrutiny committee, then chaired by SDLP councillor, Declan O'Loan.
The matter was discussed behind closed doors.
Chief Executive, Anne Donaghy, declared an interest and withdrew from the meeting while it was discussed.
The minutes record "she understood that within the whisterblower complaint, there had been allegations made in relation to the role of Chief Executive."
They add Ms. Donaghy "wished to underline the importance of the process being open, transparent and fair and she believed that this should be independently delivered through the Council's internal auditors."
She also stressed her commitment to the process and "fully supported a speedy outcome."
