Devastation thumbnailThe scene of devastation in Broughshane Street after last Tuesday’s blaze destroyed the premises of a number of well established and respected local businesses. GB2315R p1

THE businesses badly affected by the devastating effects of a fire in the centre of Ballymena last week, have thanked the local community for their "superb support."
And representatives of Woodgreen Furniture, where the blaze is believed to have started, and the adjacent Rainey and Gregg Property and Mortgage Centre and John McAtamney Solicitors have stressed that, as far as possible, it is very much "business as usual."
At its height 58 firefighters fought to stop the blaze from spreading and one was slightly injured during the battle to contain the flames.
Part of Broughshane Street remains sealed off while the damage is assessed.
