JTI workers to get extra five months work

Thursday, 27 April 2017

MORE than 60 workers at the JTI factory at Galgorm are to get an extra five months work due to tobacco supply needs, the Guardian can exclusively reveal this week.
The Lisnafillan plant is to stay open longer than expected in a move that will pour an additional 3m to 5m in wages into the local economy.
We can also reveal that the Wright Group will take possession of the factory on December 1.
Details were confirmed in a letter from Charlie Cunningham-Reid, JTI's UK head of Corporate Affairs, to North Antrim DUP MP, Ian Paisley.
Mr Cunningham-Reid said: "I would like to confirm that the production of rolling tobacco at our Lisnafillan factory in Ballymena will be extended by five months until the end of October, 2017.
"This will extension will provide the flexibility to deliver our latest production plans as EU markets implement the new TPD2 regulations and we transition production to our Polish factory.
