Guardian and Council launch series on Community Plan
Thursday, 20 April 2017
THE Ballymena Guardian, in conjunction with Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, this week launches a major series examining the area's first ever Community Plan, which will impact on the lives of everyone living in the area over the next 15 years.
Over the next seven weeks we will dissect every aspect of the Plan and explain how it will be used as a blueprint for developing local public services in Ballymena.
Community planning is central to the reform of local government, bringing together many statutory agencies to co-ordinate future planning needs in key areas such as the economy, health, housing, transport and the environment.
The council is the lead body in the process with the role of co-ordinating and driving the plan forward.
As the main newspaper in Mid and East Antrim, we wish to be at the heart of the debate on how ratepayers' money is spent and this major series will help inform that discussion.
