Run Martin, Run!
Thursday, 20 April 2017
BALLYMENA man Martin Harris, whose ill-health almost led to a leg amputation, is running Sunday's London Marathon - to raise funds for Asthma UK!
Until he took up running a few years ago Martin tipped the scales at 21 stone.
But now the new-look Lettercreeve man has lost a lot of weight - and is raring to get started in the Virgin Money London Marathon.
The 45-year-old's wife and two children suffer from ashtma.
“I am running this year to raise funds for Asthma UK. It is a condition I am aware of, but I was really shocked when I learned that there are three asthma related deaths each day in the UK alone," Martin told Guardian Sport.
Asthma UK is the only charity dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of the 5.4 million asthma sufferers in the UK by funding vital research, information material and essential services.
To help raise as much as he can for the cause Martin is also hosting a table quiz this Wednesday night (April 19) in the Front Page Bar on Ballymoney Street, Ballymena, beginning at 7.30pm.
It promises to be a great evening, and includes a raffle and light supper.
