Thursday, 30 March 2017

BALLYMENA N.I. Hospice Support Group has presented a 73,540 cheque to the Northern Ireland Hospice!
At the Group's recent Annual General Meeting treasurer James McGookin made the presentation to Mrs Heather Weir, Chief Executive of N.I. Hospice.
Mrs Weir congratulated the Ballymena NI Hospice Support Group on yet another very successful year of fundraising.
She highlighted the financial challenges in the year ahead and the dedication of the Support Groups in raising much needed funding to provide services for Adults and Children.
Government funding still only contributed 40% of the 6m required for Adult services and 20% of the 3.5m for Children's services
Meanwhile, Gerry McCann, Group Chairperson, reported another successful year for the Ballymena Support Group.
He spoke of the team spirit that exists and attributed their success to that and the willingness of members to undertake, individually and collectively, anything that needs to be done to reach their goals.
Mr McCann also thanked the staff at NI Hospice Headquarters who have assisted and forged strong links with the Group.
He commented "the Group members are made to feel valued and an important part of Northern Ireland Hospice".
In relation to the past year, Mr. McCann highlighted that, for the first time, Broughshane was a venue for the Hospice Walk.
This was a successful event which the Group hopes it grows year on year. This year's N.I. Hospice Walk will be held on Saturday, June 10, commencing at 10am at Raceview Mill, Broughshane.
