Yoga instructor jailed for sex offences

Thursday, 23 February 2017

A BALLYMENA pensioner has been jailed for 30 months for historical sexual assault charges.
Desmond Robinson (73), from Kintullagh Court, was sentenced for six indecent assault charges and four of indecency with or towards a child on Thursday (February 16) at Antrim Crown Court.
Judge Desmond Marrinan took two weeks to consider the length of jail sentence he would pass down.
Robinson was also placed on the sex offender's register indefinitely.
The court had heard Robinson sent letters to his victims apologising for his "sick and shameful treatment" of them.
Robinson, a well-known yoga instructor, pleaded guilty in December to the charges which relate to two females and date back to the late 1980's.
The court heard the defendant assaulted his victims over a two year period, carrying out sex acts on them.
It was also revealed Robinson showed them books about sexual education and stripped naked in front of one of them "more than 10 times".
