Yoga instructor warned to expect jail for historical sex offences thumbnailDesmond Robinson, who has admitted 10 sex offences, has been warned to expect to go to jail when he is sentenced on February 16. GB06593 p3

A 73-YEAR-OLD Ballymena yoga instructor, who has been warned to expect a jail sentence for historical sex offences, sent letters to his victims apologising for his "sick and shameful treatment" of them.
Desmond Robinson, from Kintullagh Court, appeared at Antrim Crown Court last Thursday for sentencing.
Also present in court was the defendant's victims.
After hearing from the prosecution and the defence, Judge Desmond Marrinan said he wanted time to consider the sentence.
Robinson, a well-known yoga instructor, pleaded guilty in December to 10 charges - six of indecent assault on a female and four of gross indecency towards a child.
The charges relate to two females and date back to the late 1980s.
The court heard the defendant assaulted his victims over a two year period, carrying out sex acts on them.
It was also revealed Robinson showed them books about sexual education and stripped naked in front of one of them "more than 10 times."
Crown prosecutor, Kate McKay, said neither of the women told anyone about the abuse until "many years later when they were married."
When they did confide in someone in 2008 that individual confronted Robinson which prompted him to write the women letters expressing his remorse.
