RADIO Cracker has done it again, raising an extraordinary £63,800 for local and Third World charities.
The sound of the festive radio station throughout the town centre in December is now as traditional as Santa and turkey!
And at the closing ceremony of Radio Cracker Ballymena (RCB) in Montgomerys restaurant on Christmas Eve, RCB's treasurer, Mrs Maureen Allen, revealed to a large crowd of volunteers and supporters the total funds raised to that date were £63,800.
Chairman, Mr Gordon Dawson, said that this was over £5,000 more than last year's total and that he was absolutely delighted.
Throughout the four-week fundraising broadcasting season, RCB regularly reminded the listeners that it was 25 years since RCB first broadcast to the greater Ballymena area.
“We wanted to mark this year as special by raising even more that in previous years, and our listeners and supporters have certainly responded to that challenge," said Gordon.
“We will now be able to help an additional charity with another humanitarian project.
“Once again, the people of the greater Ballymena area have demonstrated their caring and generous nature."
