U-turn vindicates my client - solicitor

Thursday, 3 November 2016

THE Ballymena solicitor representing a woman who was planning a Judicial Review against the proposed closure of Ballymena courthouse, has welcomed the decision to keep the Ballymoney Road building open.
Mr John McAtamney said: "We are very pleased with the Justice minister's decision to keep the courthouse open.
“My client feels totally vindicated and the Judicial Review will not now need to take place.
“The relief we sought was to keep the court in Ballymena open and that has happened without the need for proceedings."
Ballymena and Antrim Solicitors Association has also warmly welcomed the U-turn ordered by Justice minister, Claire Sugden.
They had argued closure would hit the most vulnerable sections of the community who faced being denied access to justice.
