Hotels Around the World and Essential Travel Tips
Tuesday, 2 November 2010
Travelling can be an incredible lifetime experience if you get it right. Journeying into another culture, thousands of miles from your homeland, is no doubt going to be an exciting adventure. However, to make the most out of the holiday you have booked it is important to plan meticulously so that no unexpected events will overshadow the fun you have planned. For an experience to remember (for all the right reasons), bear in mind these essential travelling tips whether you are staying in Dublin hotels or in other accommodation across Ireland. Taking on board useful advice about hotels, activities and sight-seeing will also help make your trip one that you won't forget.
So, if you are planning a memorable visit to Ireland, what is there to do in Dublin? Just like other world-renowned cities, the capital of the Republic of Ireland is teeming with tourist attractions for you to consider. Not only this, but the different themed weeks means that you can time your visit in coordination with your favourite hobbies. A good example of such an event is Restaurant Week, where dozens of the finest restaurants come together to celebrate Irish cuisine while deducting as much as 20 per cent off the usual menu price. If you wanted to grab a taste of what Dublin is like, there is no better time to do so.
However, what fun is it sampling the food in Ireland without washing it down with some authentic local booze? A much-loved brand around the world, Guinness found its home in Ireland and you may find that a pint of this iron-rich tipple will taste that extra bit nicer when you're here. One of the attractions that celebrate this national beverage is the Guinness Storehouse, a museum that allows you to explore how every pint is made. A criticism that has always been made about guided tours is the quickened pace that means you feel rushed, and so the chance to have a look around in your own time will allow you to soak in everything the attraction has to offer. That said; if you are learning plenty of Guinness-related facts, what's the fun if you can't savour a pint at the tour's conclusion? The panoramic bars that conclude your visit will certainly ensure that your taste buds get educated, too.
Are you paying a visit over the weekend? If so, one way to dedicate your Friday night could be to attend a night of fun at the Secret Castle of Magic, an attraction that has a fantastic reputation for mystery and fun. The live performances allow you to see vampires and magic tricks unfold before your very eyes and it is a great way for the children to laugh the night away. When you're away, there can be little else more satisfying than an attraction that's perfect for the whole family and with cheap tickets at this venue and many others, enjoying each other's company and a fantastic show is blissfully easy.
Of course, cheap flights in this day and age can take you anywhere, so you may wish to set your sights on cities in continental Europe such as Rome. The city, located in the heart of Italy, is famous for its history and culture. Not only is Rome the home of the Vatican City, but it has a UNESCO World Heritage site in its centre. These are both places that should be visited during your stay and explored thoroughly; as many tourists find it is the smaller cathedrals and buildings that really capture their imagination. Hotels in Rome are located all over the city; with the more luxurious ones downtown and many more inexpensive ones located north of the Termini railway station. If you are a couple planning on visiting Rome, it may be advisable to rent a small apartment near the city centre (if you are willing to cook for yourselves) as this will save on travel costs.
For a true city break, there is one place in the world that stands head and shoulders above the rest: New York. With its cosmopolitan atmosphere and modern skyscraper buildings, avid shoppers and culture seekers alike will adore what it has to offer. The city is enormous, too, with its five boroughs large enough to be considered cities themselves. Sightseeing is simply a must; the iconic Empire State Building is a favourite with tourists. It is advisable to visit this attraction either early in the morning or at night, as during the day there are massive queues of up to four hours. A ferry is available from Battery Park to view the Statue of Liberty and also to visit the associated museum. Finding a museum that is free of charge is no problem either, and there are many exhibitions that encompass the worlds of art and fashion for visitors to attend.
For a truly incredible experience further afield, why not travel on flights to Sydney, Australia? The city has an unbelievable amount to offer; from climbing the Harbour Bridge for sensational views to visiting the world-famous Opera House, you will never be short of things to do. The multiculturalism there creates a diverse mix of everything; restaurants, activities and accommodation options. As it is a long flight there and back, it is worth planning a long stay; around three weeks at least is needed to get a true taste of the city and its surroundings.
To ensure you have a great trip, plan your travel and accommodation in advance and decide on at least three activities you want to do while away. Always budget for a little extra than you expect to spend just in case and take out that all-important travel insurance before you leave. Organisation is the key to getting the most out of your travel experience and it will be worth all the preparation when you're able to unwind abroad. Whether you choose to have a memorable trip in Ireland or somewhere further afield, preparations are key to coming back refreshed and happy.
